The Malaysia International Lift Expo (MALAYSIA LIFT EXPO) will be held in Kuala Lumpur from August 27 to August 29, 2025. This expo has brought together elevator manufacturers, component suppliers and technological innovation enterprises that have significant influence in the Southeast Asian market. Our Nidec Elevator Components KDS participated in this elevator expo. We showcased the company's latest products and technologies, and at the same time gained a deeper understanding of the Malaysian market, laying a solid foundation for future business expansion. With the steady growth of the economy and the continuous advancement of urban construction, the demand in the construction market has been rising. Currently, Malaysia's urbanization rate reaches 78.9%. According to statistics, there are more than 140,000 elevators in operation in Malaysia, with an annual growth rate of 8%.
Review of Expo Highlights
1. The background and cultural concepts of the Nidec Group are deeply rooted in people's minds
In order to enable visitors to not only understand the KDS main engine but also grasp the core values of the Nidec Group, the booth layout this time not only displayed the major companies in the elevator industry under the Nidec Group but also focused on introducing and presenting the Nidec spirit to customers - "Passion, Enthusiasm, Persistence" and "Intelligent Striving". This made Nidec no longer appear only in the form of a logo in products and business communications. This initiative greatly increased the exposure of the Nidec Group, and the Tokyo Tower on the background of the booth also made visitors suddenly realize and exclaim: "So this is Nidec!"
2. Great gains from product and technology exchanges
During the expo, we conducted in-depth exchanges with elevator industry experts and manufacturer representatives from countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Customers from developed countries pay more attention to product quality and complete certificates, and Nidec's strong technical background and sound certificate system have undoubtedly greatly enhanced customers' confidence. In contrast, customers from developing countries emphasize cost-effectiveness more. This made our WR and WJC products become highly sought-after "star products" on-site, thanks to their advantages such as "slim" size that allows installation even in narrow shafts, wide load capacity range and high cost-effectiveness. Finally, we also discussed local regulatory standards and market access conditions with the government, collecting valuable information for subsequent market development.
3. Emergence of potential cooperation opportunities
Through this expo, we conducted preliminary negotiations with 8 potential distributors and received more than 30 valuable business inquiries, including negotiations and exchanges on complete elevator business and old elevator renovation projects. A number of enterprises have expressed their intention to trial and act as agents for our company's products, creating a good start for subsequent cooperation.
4. Market insights and strategic thinking
The Southeast Asian elevator market is in a period of rapid growth. Especially for relatively developed regional economies such as Malaysia, their urbanization process and infrastructure construction have brought huge opportunities to the elevator industry. Through this expo, we observed the following:
• Currently, most of the elevator business in Kuala Lumpur involves direct procurement of complete elevators for domestic installation or sales, and the demand for escalators is increasing.
• The demand for new elevators is mainly for medium and high-speed elevators, with a focus on high cost-effectiveness.
• The old elevator renovation market is active, and there is a high interest in one-stop design and supply solutions.
• After-sales service and remote technical support have become important factors for customers in choosing suppliers.
5. Looking to the Future
This trip to Kuala Lumpur not only demonstrated the company's strength but also, more importantly, pointed out the development direction of the Malaysian market for us. Next, we will:
1. Formulate marketing strategies and product solutions suitable for the local market;
2. Strengthen technical penetration and provide timely technical consultation and strong technical support for customer projects;
3. Promote closer relationships with potential partners and establish a localized service network.
